George W. Wilson, Jr.
Age 87, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Bonnie Lee (nee Beard) for 62 years. He was the devoted father of Jay R. Wilson (Brenda), Christopher A. Wilson (Catherine) and Steven M. Wilson (Karen). George was also the loving grandfather of Carin, Rebecca (Taylor), Connor, Avery, and Zeeke, and the proud great grandfather of Jackson and Jason.
George graduated from Glassboro High School in 1955 and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. He retired from the DuPont Co. in 1993 after 35 years of service. George was active in public safety in Pitman for 30 years including Fire Co. #1, Pitman Police Reserves, and the Pitman Ambulance Association. George enjoyed building Independence Day parade floats for the above organizations, the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and especially the Gloucester County Community Church, where he was an active member for the past 42 years.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, July 26, 2024 between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at the Gloucester County Community Church, 359 Chapel Heights Road, Sewell, NJ 08080. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m..
In honor of George’s life, in lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, his family would encourage contributions be made to the Gloucester County Community Church Building Fund at the address above.
