I remember a few years ago they aired a commercial for Gjensidige (an insurance company) that featured the actual likenesses of Olsenbanden (the Olsen Gang), using footage from the 1970s and body doubles. It was very impressive visually and at the same time didn't feel out of place. I also thought Princess Leia and Grand Moff Tarkin from Rogue One were excellent. For commercials and brief scenes in movies, I think this technology should definitely be embraced. However basing an entire 2 hr movie on CGI alterations of deceased / aged people would seem a bit tiring.

Hello. Long-time reader, first-time writer.
Having seen the filming in Glasgow I was not surprised to seen some anachronistic vehicles, I was somewhat surprised by the blue NYPD patrol cars. Given the scene appeared to be set in 1969 (Apollo 11 ticker tape) I'd have thought black, green and white would have been more appropriate.
Will be interesting to see what makes it into the film and what is CGI'd away.

I have just added the anachronistic Renault 4 which appears in the trailer; these scenes are set in 1969 and this car is clearly a post-1978 model with plastic side trim and revised front grille.

Everyone I've seen talking about this movie say the exact same thing... Only the first 15 or so minutes is watchable, and that everything after that is terrible. And I thought Crystal Skull was jumping the shark (or rather, nuked the fridge)!

I would've brought him back for a cameo if I was a Lucasfilm exec for continuity's sake, even if he isn't anyone's favorite. But then again, if they were of sound mind, they wouldn't have put out most of what they sh*t out for the past six or so years... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I saw this movie and I quite liked it! While it no hope of living up to the decades of awesome built up by the original trilogy, it is certainly much better and far less CGI-heavy than Crystal Skull was, which I also didn't mind. It is certainly a worthy finale to the Indiana Jones franchise and the climax is pretty crazy but it doesn't feel out of place. Certainly far less call-backs and the ones there are are quite subtle. They did give Indy another child sidekick, but thankfully did not make him annoying. Speaking of child sidekicks, the only thing I felt was missing from the film was Ke Huy Quan, given him and Harrison Ford's reunion last year was so well received. Indy does receive help from an old friend played by Antonio Banderas, so they could have put Ke Huy Quan in that role. Indy's other sidekick, his god-daughter, does bring to mind Mac, though she is far better written. I would recommend it, especially on the grounds that this will be the final opportunity to see an Indiana Jones film in theaters.

I'm surprised that this film appears to be bombing despite that fact that Crystal Skull was raking in the profits during it's run. Must be because of all the hype between Barbie and Oppenheimer.

That was a fairly contemporary truck owned by Con Ed. I don't remember if they had those colors in 1969 (I saw more LILCO trucks back then), but they sure as hell didn't have Utilimaster vans with square headlights.

There was a blue FIAT 238 van in the film. Apparently, three different vans were used, with one being sold on April.

To be fair, it's not the most anachronistic vehicle to be featured in this franchise... a '70s-era Volkswagen van appears during the Shanghai chase in Temple of Doom (set in 1936), and a '51 Ford panel van appears in The Last Crusade.
